LOCAL CULTURAL ACCOMMODATION

A.    Introduction

Indonesia is often referred to as a big country among countries in the world. This can be seen from its diversity through culture, ethnicity, language, religion, and traditions which are very plural. The modern side turns out to be able to provide changes to local wisdom values(H. Iin Wariin Basyari, 2014). For this reason, the role of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia has continued to oversee Indonesia so that all the diversity that this nation has is maintained in full peace and tranquility. Building a pious and moderate society is part of the vision of the Ministry of Religion in realizing an advanced Indonesia that is sovereign, independent, and has a personality based on mutual cooperation.

In line with the above, it is appropriate for all of us to jointly play a role in realizing the noble ideals of this nation. Harmony among the nation's children is the main value that must be put forward equally. Every region in Indonesia certainly has values ​​that can maintain the values ​​of togetherness. For example, in the context of local culture in Tabagsel, it is known as tappar marsipagodangan, Songon siala sampagul. In line with the statement above, this paper will try to discuss local cultural accommodation using descriptive analysis.

 

B.     understanding

1.      Local Cultural Accommodation Opportunities

Local wisdom and values ​​can provide a guide in realizing the ideals of the Indonesian nation. The term tappar marsipagodangan is the main capital for being able to knit together in the Padangsidimpuan community, South Tapanuli, Padang Lawas, and Paluta Regencies, as well as Mandailing Natal. The expression tappar marsipagodangan can be interpreted as supporting and raising each other among human beings. The issue of rich and poor is not a standard for the people of Tabagsel. However, each community can look after one other. Therefore, the understanding related to tappar marsipagodangan has become a philosophy of the Tabagsel people. Furthermore, another term that until now has been echoed by the people of Tabagsel is sa anak sa boru. Sa anak sa boru means that every member of the community in Tabagsel must care for each other for the community in which they live. These local cultural values ​​are still in line with the term Bhinneka Tunggal Ika(Letitia Susana Beto Leek & Yosep Belen Keban, 2021)(although they are different ones) namely the Indonesian nation.

This concern (sa anak sa boru) is one of the local wisdom values ​​for the people of Tabagsel, be it Padangsidimpuan City, Mandailing Natal Regency, South Tapanuli Regency, Paluta and Palas Regencies. Based on the two values ​​of local wisdom above, both (tappar marsipagodangan and sa anak sa boru) have become the main capital for realizing living together in a pluralistic area. Peace and comfort in a society in the Tabagsel region in particular and the Indonesian region, in general, can be well maintained if each region practices its own cultural philosophy including local culture which must be used as an accommodation to realize the noble ideals of the Indonesian nation.

 

2.      The Challenge of Religious Moderation

 

The following is a challenge to religious moderation in society. These factors can be triggered by a lack of understanding of cultural values ​​in society, narrow insights, and the low level of public education. In this regard, improvement efforts should be made through proper education, being diligent in participating in local cultural activities, having to be open to learning to respect differences. If you are able to open yourself up, God willing, a tolerant society will be created, and mutual respect between people, this has been done, it can create a society that cares about culture. Furthermore, what needs to be seen from the local tradition as explained earlier is that it can guarantee justice and prosperity for the community(Susanto & Karimullah, 2017).

 

C.    Conclusion

Local culture can provide value for Indonesian people, especially by bringing together different dimensions. Through local culture, a life which has so far been considered to be able to complicate the atmosphere in life can in fact be liquidated through local culture through local principles such as tappar marsipagodangan, songon siala sampagul, sa anak sa boru, which are values ​​in the people of South Sumatra in particular and in Indonesia in general.
